Carlos da Silva Costa and José Alberto Pinheiro Pinto will receive the FEP Career Awards 2021 and 2020, respectively, which will be delivered in a ceremony to be held on the 26th October, at 17h00, in the Noble Hall of the School. FEP Career Award aims to distinguish a former student of FEP who has stood out for his/her professional and personal career and, by doing so, has also contributed to consolidate the prestige of the School of Economics.

Next Tuesday, October 26th, at 18h30, takes place at FEP the launching of the books "Manuel Duarte Baganha. Um Príncipe da Academia" and "Manuel Duarte Baganha. Um Pensador do Cálculo de Custos". The books will be presented by Pedro Teixeira, Professor at FEP and Director of the Centre for Research in Higher Education Policies (CIPES), and the organization will be under the responsibility of Maria de Fátima Brandão, former student and lecturer at FEP. António Castro Henriques has won the 4th edition of the Alberto Sampaio History Prize with the study entitled "Midas, Moedas e Mercados: A Economia Política do Primeiro Sistema Monetário Português, 1190-1250". In its deliberation, the panel unanimously commented that it is "an excellent research essay in monetary medieval history, based on archival sources explored in an innovative way and which critically questions the scholarly consensus". The Prize was initiated by the Braga, Guimarães and Vila Nova de Famalicão municipalities and the Martins Sarmento society. The Lisbon Academy of Sciences is responsible for the organisation and scientific direction of the prize. The prize will be formally awarded on the 1st of December.

Since the beginning of this month, FEP Professor Luís Carvalho is a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions (EIST). Published by Elsevier, the journal is connected to the Sustainability Transitions Research Network and includes contributions from a broad range of disciplines within the social, environmental and innovation sciences. With an impact factor of 9.68, it is currently ranked 13th in environmental sciences.

EUGLOH Annual Summit 2021 took place between the 13th and 15th October, gathering, at the University of Porto, the universities that compose this network - Université Paris-Saclay, Lund University, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the University of Szeged - in a meeting that intended to encourage joint action and cooperation in education, research and interdisciplinary innovation. In parallel FEP promoted meetings in the School with the Dean of the University of Szeged and also received a group from the Université Paris-Saclay, with the purpose of bringing closer together the masters' degrees in economics of the two Schools. The European University Alliance for Global Health (EUGLOH) began to take shape in June 2019, with the approval, by the European Commission, of what constitutes one of the first 17 university alliances of the European continent, being a strategic project for the University and where FEP has a strong involvement.

The 6th edition of the programme of visits to companies will take place on October 26th and November 9th, aimed at first year bachelor students. This programme is a unique opportunity for students to be in contact with leading companies in the industrial sector, namely Cerealis, Henfilgon, Nelo Kayaks and P&R Têxteis, being this year, due to the pandemic situation, developed online. This activity is recognised under the Pro-Skills programme.
