Exposure to nature during the COVID-19 lockdown was beneficial for mental health

Exposure to natural spaces during the first COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 was beneficial for the mental health of individuals living in Portugal and Spain. This was observed by a study carried out by ISPUP and the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (ICTA-UAB).


COVID-19: ISPUP researcher publishes recommendations to assist dentists

The researcher Paulo Melo is the first author of three articles, published in the International Dental Journal, that delineate a rigorous approach to the control of SARS-CoV-2 infection in dental clinics, applicable during the most critical period of the pandemic.


ISPUP helps to identify the behavior of people in the process of drowning

There is at most a two-minute time window to identify and recognize a person in the process of drowning. After this, the individual will become submerged and unconscious. Thus, the action time is very short. These results are part of an international study, in which ISPUP participated.


Children studying in schools closer to built environments are at higher risk of obesity

A study by ISPUP, published in the European Journal of Pediatrics, found that children who attend schools with greater proximity to built environments and with less green spaces, have a higher risk of developing obesity.
