Study reveals impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in maternal and newborn health care

The first results of the IMAGINE EURO project, in which ISPUP participates, were published in the scientific journal "The Lancet Regional Health - Europe". It was found, for example, that between March 2020 and 2021, the percentage of Portuguese women with spontaneous vaginal births who underwent episiotomies – a procedure not recommended by the WHO – was twice as high when compared to the percentage of other European countries included in the study.


ISPUP researchers create project to improve physical and mental health of inmates

The project aims to provide inmates with a free physical activity programme that will be implemented over two years.


Study evaluates evolution of cognitive performance of breast cancer patients

An ISPUP study analysed the evolution of the cognitive performance of a group of women diagnosed with breast cancer over the course of five years. The research highlights the importance of assessing cognitive performance before the start of cancer treatments and in the year after.


ISPUP in European project to improve access to oral health care for the population

ISPUP is one of the participating institutions in the DELIVER (DELiberative ImproVEment of oRal care quality) European project, which aims to implement a model that will help improve the quality and safety of access to oral health care for all European citizens.



Children living closer to green spaces have better cognitive performance

Children who live closer to green spaces, such as parks and public gardens, show better cognitive performance at age 10. The conclusion comes from an ISPUP study that sought to understand the impact of green and blue space (sea and rivers) exposure on children's cognitive development.


Meeting at Infarmed: February 16, 2022
