According to an ISPUP study, the COVID-19 pandemic completely transformed funeral rituals and customs and this change had a significant impact on the grieving process of each individual and had consequences on their mental health.


ISPUP study is the first to describe the trends in drowning deaths in Portugal

The study analysed, for the first time, the trends in drowning mortality in Portugal between the years 1992 and 2019. What was discovered? Over the 27 years studied, there were 6,057 deaths by drowning in Portugal, with a high number of deaths in people aged 65 or over.


ISPUP implements a project in Matosinhos to help prevent memory loss

The MIND-Matosinhos project aims to help prevent cognitive decline in the citizens of the municipality of Matosinhos. How? Through a free, community-based programme that includes five non-pharmacological interventions and consist of physical exercise, cognitive training, dietary education, memory loss adjustment and assessment and correction of hearing problems.

The researchers Carla Lopes, Pedro Moreira, and Pedro Graça were distinguished by The Portuguese Council of Nutritionists with a Medal of Merit, on April 28th.

André Moreira is one of the coordinators of the scientific programme of the Annual Congress of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) - the largest congress in the world in the field of allergology.
