TThe University of Porto, through UPdigital, provides the entire community with an online survey platform – inqueritos.up.pt, a simple, secure, and intuitive tool for creating and managing online surveys. Based on the open-source software LimeSurvey, this platform combines ease of use with high security standards.
LimeSurvey is particularly useful as it offers features that align with academic and research needs, making it ideal for scientific research surveys, academic surveys, and institutional management or planning purposes, while providing a reliable alternative to external tools.
When using this platform, all collected data are stored on the University of Porto’s infrastructure. However, it is essential that any survey to be implemented is first submitted for review by the Data Protection Unit, together with a full description of the planned processing. This must include the purposes, categories of data, legal basis, retention period, and the mechanisms in place to safeguard data subjects’ rights, in order to ensure compliance with the GDPR.
Accordingly, each survey must be registered as a Personal Data Processing Activity on the following platform: https://www.up.pt/pdados/.
The dissemination of surveys to the U.Porto community is carried out upon request to the Communication and Image Office of the Rectorate via the email address ci@reit.up.pt.
The use of LimeSurvey enables the University of Porto to optimise data collection and analysis, support strategic decision-making, and ensure safer, more efficient, and more sustainable processes across scientific, academic, and administrative activities within the institution.
