U.Porto Reitoria SIP
… the BIP PROOF programme, promoted by U.Porto Inovação, funds projects to transform research results into prototypes, feasibility studies or even new businesses?

BIP PROOF is a U.Porto programme that supports the development of proofs of concept by funding projects that transform promising research results into solutions with potential socio-economic impact.

Funded projects may include the creation of prototypes, technical feasibility tests, in vitro/in vivo studies, market analyses, or other activities that increase the value and transfer potential of research results to the business environment (either existing companies or future spin-offs).

Launched in 2018 by U.Porto Inovação, BIP PROOF has already funded 55 projects, involving a total of 250 researchers, of whom 114 are women and 135 are men. Across all editions, the programme represents a total investment of €610,000.

The faculties and research institutes with the highest number of funded projects are FEUP (36%), i3S (11%), and FCUP, CIIMAR and REQUIMTE (9%).

Funded projects span several scientific areas: Health (25 projects), Energy, Environment and Construction (19), Biotechnology, Food Technology and Agriculture (6), and Information Technology, Electronics and Communication (3). This diversity demonstrates the breadth and relevance of the innovation produced at the University of Porto.
