… A new platform for accrediting and providing statistical data for scientific research purposes has recently been launched under a protocol between INE, DGEEC, and FCT?

The new Platform for the Accreditation and Provision of Statistical Data for Scientific Research Purposes is a result of the protocol established between the National Statistics Institute (INE), the Directorate-General for Education and Science Statistics (DGEEC), and the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), which defines the conditions for accessing anonymised individual statistical data for scientific purposes.

Access to this platform requires researchers to be accredited by the DGEEC, enabling them to access INE databases – including the  National Data Infrastructure – which hosts data produced by INE, entities with delegated competencies, or other administrative sources.

With the launch of this new platform, no alternative channels for microdata access requests will be accepted.

Access to the platform is free of charge and aims to simplify and streamline the accreditation and data provision process, promoting digitalisation and automation while maintaining the highest standards of security and protection for confidential data.

The platform is an online accreditation system for researchers, provided and managed by the DGEEC. It serves two purposes: to accredit researchers in accordance with the criteria defined by the protocol established among the managing entities, and to register data requests and their corresponding validation.

Accredited applicants approved by DGEEC are granted access to statistical data provided by INE.
