Excellence Award in Scientific Research 2026  honours five U.Porto researchers

Recognising and fostering excellence in scientific activity and careers within the University’s academic community, the 2026 edition of this initiative promoted by the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Innovation honours researchers from four distinct scientific areas.

Public Consultation within the framework of the Agency for Research and Innovation (AI2)

AI² brings together FCT and ANI, a public consultation and debate on national research and development and innovation policies is currently underway. The consultation will influence the policy, activities and initiatives of the future Agency. The entire scientific community is invited to participate.

FCT launches the 2026 Call for Doctoral Studentships

The 2026 edition of this call closes on 31 March and foresees the awarding of 1,600 research scholarships within the framework of doctoral programmes in all scientific areas, with a total budget of 145 M€. Of these, 1,000 scholarships will be awarded in an academic environment and 600 in a non-academic environment.

Mobilidades U.Porto aprovadas no concurso FCT Mobility

Within the scope of this programme, the U.Porto community secured 54 mobility placements with an average duration of three months, of which 32 are for foreign institutions and 22 correspond to the hosting of external researchers. In total, 476 researcher mobilities were approved in the incoming and outgoing modalities.

European Urban Initiative - Innovative Actions - 4th call

Funding for experimental and highly innovative projects within the framework of urban policies. Proposals must fall within one of six areas: competitiveness and digitalisation, social inclusion, urban security, sustainable and affordable housing, climate action and environment, or mobility. The maximum funding available for 24 month projects is 2 M€.

Promove projetos colaborativos público-privados com impacto científico, social e económico, no sentido de impulsionar inovação em saúde. Abrange tópicos de soluções centradas nas pessoas, exploração de digitalização e dados, entre outros. Com dotação global de 163,1 M€.

Convocatórias Cluster 6 do Horizonte Europa

Twenty one calls under Horizon Europe Cluster 6 dedicated to preserving our quality of life will open soon, with a focus on food security, water and nature. Proposals must contribute to placing biodiversity on a path to recovery and to protecting and restoring ecosystems. These calls will have a total budget of 210 M€.

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026

The MSCA Fellowships aim to enhance the creativity and innovation of doctoral researchers through advanced training and international, interdisciplinary and intersectoral mobility. They are divided into European Fellowships and Global Fellowships, with a duration of 12 to 24 months, across all scientific domains.
